When done upgrading to a lower version of Configuration Manager such as Configuration Manager SP2, or after the Active Directory domain or forest functional level is raised, is there a need for me to have the schema extended again for Configuration Manager?

Hello Clayton Ward,

I do not think that there will be a need for you to a schema extension again when you are raising the function level of the domain or forest because that is a onetime action that is done once for every forest. Once you have done the schema extension, the process cannot be reversed, and it should be done a user who has membership to the schema admin group, or the user should have delegated enough rights so as to modify the schema.

But in case you decide to extend the AD schema, then you should do that before you do the setup or after the setup is completely installed.

Hope this helps.
