Hi Brainy,

I planned to update by Solidworks 2011 to the latest one when I try to Upgrade, it failed in between leaving an error message.I have a Windows XP operating system previous version is working to the core. But I don’t understand why this error is. This message provided me the installation log files as a zip file, friends if you want I can able to attach them. Need your help badly.

The error is because the registry files are incorrect for the corresponding software.
TO solve this error follow the steps mentioned below:
1) Click 'Start', select 'Control Panel', click 'Add/Remove Programs'
2) Open the registry editor in the system
3) Navigate the file in the path 'C:Windowsrededit.exe' in the system
4) Choose the registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MachineSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftVSTAHost' in the key list
5) Rename the key as 'HKEY_LOCAL_MachineSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftVSTAHostOLD'
6) Choose the registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MachineSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftVSTAHostConfig' in the key list
7) Rename the key as 'HKEY_LOCAL_MachineSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftVSTAHostConfigOLD'
8) Close the registry editor in the system
9) Install the Solid Works software using Installation Manager in the current system
