Unable to run 2011 version against TFS 2010 SP1 server

Hello friends,

I am a member of a business group and my group is trying to migrate 49 clear quest defects to TFS 2010. We have recently installed the latest march 2011 version from the visual studio gallery. We have been running it against TFS 2010 SP1 server and an empty TFS integration SQL database.

On running it, I get an error message on my screen, although it is running with a newly created team project collection and TFS team project. The screenshot of the error is attached below:

The error says:

TFS WIT history not found conflict type. Work ITem conversion history for Source Item 'Defect:inf0009802' (revision: 'history::2', Migration Source: '24d82339-6786-426a-9f15-b0bbe91e36b7') is not found.

I have checked the revision history of clear quest 9802 and it has never been modified. Secondly, I have tried the integration tool option to retry and skip, but the migration stops on the step, where analysis is required and the migration comes to an end. None of the items are migrated after this.

I have been searching for this on the internet, but found nothing useful regarding the march 2011 version.

Has anyone faced such a problem with this version?

If yes, were you able to fix it up? Please do let me know.

Your feedback and suggestions are awaited.

Regards.

Hello Wyatt,

To resolve that issue, you will need to remake the entire configuration from scratch using the following procedure:

  • First of all you will have to clean TFS 2010 installation.
  • And then you will have to create the new TFS Team Project Collection.
  • Next you will create the new TFS Team Project.
  • And then you will have to do the new March 2011 Installation of the TFS TIP.
  • After that you will create the configuration again.
  • And then you will run the migration.

That should help resolve the issue that you are getting.

Regards,

Carl
