Hello!

Good day!

I have not found a reliable way to transfer over Meta data for documents and lists.

Is there any suggestion on how can I transfer this data from 2007 to 2010?

I am currently in the process of transferring from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010 but I encounter  an obstacle.

Any suggestions and comments really appreciated.

Thank you….

Hallo Henryk,

To able to transfer the metadata for the documents and lists you might need to use the hyper text transmission protocol which will provide the content type. File transfer protocol will not be good in transferring metadata. In HTTP, the metadata is used by the clients in interpreting the contents being transferred accordingly.

You can also use the colligo contributor which is an add on that will provide you with ease of access directly from outlook. Once done that you can then choose to send the file or the drag and drop option to put emails and attachments in libraries and folders which will then capture the metadata. The attachments of the email will then be stored in SharePoint by substituting them with links.

Hope this helps.
