Totem wont play wmv files

I am on Kubuntu 9.10 using totem to play wmv files.  But certain of them causes the player to search for an audio codec, a wmap which is never found at all.  The video can be played but without an audio after that.  I removed remove ~/. gstreamer-0.10 then reboot.  A new .Gstreamer-0.10 directory appeared but Totem will no longer play video.  However, it recognizes audio codec as Windows Media but nothing appears in the window.  What am I going to do to fix this? How to rebuild the database?

Hello,

How are you doing? Hope all is well with you. Media players can sometimes be hectic to operate. This is mostly due to the absence of some codec that support certain video formats. My advice to you would be to use a different media player. Take for instance, Vlc, it's easy to use and is fully loaded with almost all codec to suite any media format there is.
