Time and date lose when turning on my IBM ThinkPad 600X

Hi, I keep getting some digits like error code 173, 192, 163 on my new IBM ThinkPad 600X PC Notebook. Every time I set the date and time then turn off the machine, the time and date are lost after turning on and the error code reappears. I reinstalled the OS. But I’m still not finding any solution. I’m waiting for your response about how to solve this. Thanks.

HI Ms. Shifflett,

I understand that you are having problems with your new IBM Thinkpad 600X PC Notebook. In lieu of your issue re: error codes 163/192/173, it appears that you are having problems with the BIOS on that notebook.

Please consider the following solutions:

**you would need to flash your BIOS using the discs/floppy that came with the laptop

**There's an internal battery that looks like that of a watch (small round silver battery) that needs to be replaced.

—  laptop's internal clock resetting all the time is also caused by the items listed above.

It is highly unlikely that the CMOS battery died already but it is possible.

I hope I was able to help you out.

Sincerely,

Paul Pinalb
