Hi to all readers in techyv, I have a problem installing QuickBooks application to my computer, I got an error while on the process of installation, pasted below the error message screen shot.

[Error:1603] There was a problem installing “Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1”.

Note the error number and type this is a Web browser

support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/installcenter/default.aspx

When I read on the error, Quickbooks generated an error while on the process of installing .net to my computer, so what I did, I aided it my own installation of .net, what I mean I installed a copy of .net to my computer before I re installed Quickbooks, in order for Quickbooks to skip its installation of .net, but Quickbooks still install .net and generated an error,

Please help me with my problem,

I hope to hear from you soon,

Thanks a lot.

The error you mention above occurs is when the Microsoft .NET components installed in your computer is damaged. Here’s what your going to do, try repairing Microsoft .NET Framework by Running the system file Checker.

Uninstall all the Microsoft .NET frameworks, click the start button, in the start search box enter cmd and click search when found right click the cmd.exe and click run as administrator if prompted for a password type the password in the command prompt just type scan now then enter.

Once down, install your Quick books from your CD or your download.

Hope this will solve your problem.

Hello Gregorywelts,

This error can occur when the Microsoft .NET 1.1 Hotfix KB886904 has been installed before installing .NET 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

This situation creates a conflict that does not allow .NET 1.1 SP1 to be installed on the computer. QuickBooks requires .NET 1.1 SP1 to run.

  • To install .NET 1.1 SP1, you must first remove Hotfix KB886904.
  • To uninstall the hotfix, do the following:
  1. Click the Windows Start button and select Settings > Control Panel. The Control Panel window opens.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. The Add or Remove Programs window opens.
  3. Look through the list of programs for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886904).
  4. Select the hotfix and click Change/Remove. Follow the instructions to continue removing the hotfix.
  5. After the hotfix is removed, install QuickBooks normally.

If you are installing QuickBooks and you receive this error, setup probably encountered a problem downloading the installer from Microsoft. This can happen if you are disconnected from the internet or the link provided in the installer is outdated and no longer points to the correct URL. To fix the problem, install .NET Framework 1.1 first before installing QuickBooks.

Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable Package and install it. Restart your computer if you are prompted. Once .NET Framework 1.1 is installed, try installing QuickBooks. This should fix the problem.
