I am running a new laptop with Windows 7. It's about two weeks old, and I've slowly been installing my old software on it so I can use it regularly. Everything, including Java plug-ins has been working fine until now with this error. Can anyone help me fixing this error?

If this error is from a new laptop that runs on Microsoft Windows 7 and you are still on the process of installing your old applications then maybe one of your software is not compatible with your operating system. Maybe this application in error works fine when it is running on Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Vista but not on Microsoft Windows 7.
Check again which operating system the program is working before and then run it in compatibility mode for that operating system. For example, if that application in error works fine before in Microsoft Windows Vista, in Windows 7, run it in compatibility mode for Microsoft Windows Vista. Though it doesn’t work all the time but this is the right way of running it on higher operating system.
Right-click on the shortcut of the program in error and select Properties. Select Compatibility tab. Under “Compatibility mode” section, check “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and check Windows Vista from the dropdown menu. See image.
See if this works. If it doesn’t work, the best way to fix it if you still want to use the same application is to install the latest version that supports Microsoft Windows 7.
