Except a few sites, my browser is always showing this error message. It wasn't happening before but recently I turned off the automatic Windows update because it was time consuming. I have noticed that this problem has started to occur after turning the windows update off. Is this some kind of a precaution, not to open certain websites? Is their a potential virus threat on these websites?

Well it depends which browser you are using for browsing if you are using default Internet Explorer then it’s obvious to show an error message because as you turn off the updates and your Internet explorer is not updated , so update your browser and if you are using other browser then it might be a security certificate issue.
