I have been downloading direct downloads, I want to ask two questions;
1. Are direct downloads secure enough to be downloaded?
2. If they are not secure then what tools should I use to make them secure direct downloads?

Hello
Not all downloads are secure, you have to watch from which site you download your files. Direct download can't do any harm to you or your computer except bringing viruses but in that case you have large choice of antivirus application (I recommend Avast because it's best free antivirus). If you download from popular and secure sites like Cnet then you won't have any problems.
