The terribly slow start up of FCP

My FCP starts up really slowly. It takes an age to load and when it finally does, a strange screen pops up. At first, this screen used to only appear while starting up, but now, it just appears randomly for no apparent reason, when running FCP.

I am using an external hard drive. I copied the files to the local drive. I thought of looking for some form of render file. Please see the image below.

Connection failed: The server ''(fe80:4:0:0:20d:93ff:feb 1:e882)'' may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.

OK.

Dear Casey,

It appears that application cannot connect to your server. Try these steps and you should be able to fix the problem

1.       Reconnect the external HDD when you open a project

2.       And delete you thumbnail and waveform cache

Thank you

Hi there user:

You need to trash FCP X Preferences. Just type Command+H to open your Home Directory. Go to Library and then open Preferences Folder. You must empty the trash, it’s like clearing cache and history. Then restart the FCP Pro. See if the message still pop.
