First of all, update availability for your phone may vary. It depends on the following: phone model, the region you are in, and the network service carrier of your phone. Try the simple steps written below to get new firmware update notifications to your phone:
1. On your phone, you need to go to Settings and you need to tap on phone update.
2. Notify me when new updates are found must be turned on.
3. You can also use your mobile data connection to check for new updates. You just need to turn on the option that says Use my mobile data connection to check for updates.
When your phone is connected to your computer and you have the Zune application installed, it will also notify you if every time new software updates are found on the Internet.
If you’re on T-Mobile, software or firmware update for your Nokia Lumia 710 will be pushed to your phone automatically. You will receive a notification on your phone that an update is available. When you receive “An update is available” pop-up message, it means your phone is ready to receive the update. To start updating your phone, connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable.
After this, Zune should automatically open after connecting the device. When Zune is finished checking for updates, click “Update” to continue then “Update Now” to begin the update process.
