Speed up Hard Disk (No Virus)

I have an issue with my hard disk.

There is no any virus in my hard disk but it is not working well.  Even when I want to copy, paste a folder, from one path to another, it takes nearly about 2,3 minutes.

Is there any solution for this problem?

Make sufficient storage space free of your hard disk, then check out the working. Let me know also that you have this problem with one drive only or with hard disk as a whole?

I have more than 2 GB free at the moment in each drive. The problem is not with only one drive, it’s about hard disk problem.

Then make sure that your hard disk is free of “Bad sector”.  If there is bad sector in your hard disk, then I suggest that you take the backup of your hard disk. Re-format and re-partition your hard disk. Then check the speed of your computer and hard disk.

How can I check the status of my hard disk, that is it free of bad sector or not? Send me the process of checking this status and also guide me if there is no bad sector in my hard, then what to do?

You can checkout your hard disk status by following these steps:

  • Click Start Menu
  • Select Run
  • Type cmd and press enter

If you want to check D drive then type D: and press enter

  • Type chkdsk
  • And check the result on the screen as:
  • If there is no bad sector then there will be a message as:
  • 0 KB in bad sector

That shows you don’t have bad sector in your hard disk.

Thank you JBond. I have checked the result by performing your mentioned tasks. There is no any bad sector in any drive of my hard disk. But the working of hard disk is very slow. Tell me about any solution of this problem.

The problem you have mentioned is not a big problem. All you have to do is just consists of some steps. Perform these tasks once a month regularly and you will check the speed of hard disk is really good.

1: Right click on your drive.

2: select “tools” from tab.

3: Run “Defragment Now” your drives.

4: Run “check Now”.

5: Go to your folder of item files and delete all files regularly.

For example if you have windows with user name ABC then path of the temp folder will be like:

C:Documents and SettingsABCLocal SettingsTemp
