Hello,

When I am trying to update my phone, I am getting this odd error message. The options I tried are, via direct download update I am getting ‘Network connection error’. I am getting same error if I connect with the PC via Ovi Suite too. If I connect with the Nokia Software update software there it says ‘service is currently unavailable. Please try again’. And I checked the internet connection it is perfect. I tried many times but the no luck. Please help to update my phone. Anyone has faced or facing this problem? Please contribute your ideas. Thanks in advance.

There may be several things that affect the connectivity of the program that’s why you can’t connect it to the server and update your handset. One possible cause is your Windows Firewall though sometimes Windows prompts you if a program requires outside access. To allow Nokia Ovi Suite to go through the Windows Firewall, click Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, and then Windows Firewall.

Go to Exceptions tab. Click Add Program, browse to the location of Nokia Ovi Suite in “C:Program Files”, select the program executable, and open it. Click OK to finish. Try it this time. See image.

Another one that possibly blocks the program is your antivirus. BitDefender Antivirus is one example that blocks Nokia Ovi Suite as well as Nokia Software Updater. In case you have this one as your antivirus, here’s how you can unblock Nokia Ovi Suite. Open your BitDefender antivirus in Advanced View.

Go to Game/Laptop mode tab, select Manage Games, click on the plus icon [+], browse to the location of Nokia Ovi Suite in “C:Program FilesNokiaOvi Suite”, and select “NokiaOviSuite.exe”. For Nokia Software Updater, you can find “nsu_ui_client.exe” in “C:Program FilesNokiaNokia Software Updater”. Once both files are added, enable Game Mode for the application. This should allow Nokia Ovi Suite and Nokia Software Updater to connect to the server.
