Software for converting DIVX to Windows Movie Maker

I encountered compatibility problem in converting divx codex into Windows Movie Maker(WWM), so I can’t go on with editing the videos in WWM. Can anyone help me on how to convert divx for editing in WWM along with compatibility issues?

Hi Heather Carr,

It is due to your windows movie maker does not support the divx files hence it is displaying errors. You can over come this error by converting the divx files into any other formats like dvd,mpeg,mp4 then add the videos into the windows movie maker.

Still the problems then there is problem in the windows movie maker .

The reason why Windows Movie Maker is giving an error is because it does not support Divx format. There are two things that you can do to resolve this issue.

1. Convert you Divx videos into Avi format and then import it to Movie Maker. Here is a link to the software that you can use to convert your videos:

2. You can use a better video editing tool, I suggest you use Corel VideoStudio x5, it is far superior to Windows Movie Maker, it supports almost all formats and has vast amount of features, you can try it by downloading from:
