What is the relation of service pack 2 (SP2) to windows vista and Windows Server 2008?

Service pack 2 (SP2) to windows vista and server 2008

A service pack refers to a collection of updates and fixes released by Microsoft Corporation to address the flaws and loop holes in the operating system, in this case for Windows 7 or windows 2008.

The service pack essentially installs all the updates released since the operating system first became available for the public.

It is like updating your operating system all at once instead of small fixes of usually 2-20 MegaByte, a service pack might be in some Gigabytes as they are really big, but it is strongly recommended that you install service packs as and when they are available.

Service pack 2 (SP2) to windows vista and server 2008

A Service Pack or often abbreviated as SP, is a compilation of fixes and updates or simply patches that is intended to be applied on an operating system. There are times a Service Pack is also applied on software that serves as their major update. Several of these patches are frequently released before the larger Service Pack.

The good thing about Service Pack is that all major updates and patches can be applied in one single easy installation. Besides the updates and patches that can be expected from a Service Pack, it usually comes with new features. If you don’t know how to check your computer’s Service Pack right-click My Computer then select Properties.

In System, you will see the name of your operating system and its edition “Microsoft Windows XP Professional” and below it is the Service Pack “Service Pack 3”. If you want to update Windows to the latest Service Pack, visit Latest Windows Service Packs and Updates.
