SD card not working with computer

Hi all. I recently bought an SD card and stored a lot of data in it, just very important data in it. The SD card itself looked perfect and it looked of very fine quality. Yesterday I was using it on my computer and it was working properly. Today when I tried to use it with my computer, it wasn’t recognized as an external storage device. Why is my computer not recognizing this SD card anymore? I need to transfer some important files from computer to this SD card. Please help!

SD card not working with computer

I am not sure what size SD card you are using, but if it is a 4GB and higher SDHC card, then your computer’s internal reader is not SDHC compatible.  If your card reader slot on your computer doesn’t have a SDHC logo on it, it is most likely not SDHC compatible. This means that your computer can only read SD cards that are 2GB and lower in size.

You can contact the manufacturer of your computer and see if they have free firmware update for the model of your computer to make it SDHC compatible.

The other option is to buy a SDHC card reader that you can connect to your computer via USB.
