Save MS Office before reformatting the computer

I purchased a second-hand computer and it has lots of issues. I only got a Windows XP installer with it and I want to reformat the computer and install all the programs needed. Before reformatting, I want to know if there’s a way that I can save the MS Office program on my computer so it can just be re-installed when the PC is already reformatted. Does anyone here have an idea? Please help.

Click Start >Programs > then Microsoft Office > then Tools > and MS Office 2003 > then Save My Settings Wizard.
Then Open the wizard.

1. Select Save and Next.

2. Enter browsing / direct path that stores the settings.

All settings will be saved in a single file.  Remember the direct path so that you can find again when the settings have to be recovered.  Select Finish.

3. A progress bar will show.

4. Save the settings file on flash/removable/portable/USB drive so that could be easily accessed.

5. Open the same wizard and restore by select the previously saved settings.

You cannot save the already reinstalled ms office program on your computer so that you can get it later after formatting the machine, unless you mean an ms office installation setup program. In case it is an installation setup program, then you can just save it on external hard drive or a USB flash drive or alternatively burn it on a disc.

But if it is not a setup application, you will need to format the machine and install windows XP afresh, and that means that you will loose all the installed programs including the ms office program. You will need to get the applications as follows:

  • Download them from the internet.
  • For those that you cannot get on the internet, you will need to purchase them.

After you have installed windows xp, you will then install the other applications.
