I am an Ubuntu user, and I would like to connect a new Saitek P3600 Cyborg Force Rumble Pad and use it on kxmame. I know that most controllers can be used with Ubuntu, but I am not exactly sure how it works. Will this happen automatically, or will I have to install something? How does the configuration work?

Hello,

You can configure Ubuntu for plug-and-play response. You can also choose a very large install of Ubuntu that likely has nearly all the device drivers and general device support you would require. In some cases, you will have to manually install the device and its associated drivers, so that it will be recognized on use. In some situations, there is no driver or other support because the device is too new or was never supported. First, attempt plug-and-play. If this does not work, I suggest navigating to the help section of your OS for a guided, GUI install of the device. You could also navigate to the hardware tools for device installation. If there does not appear to be preinstalled support, visit the Ubuntu website for device driver packages and hardware install packages. You can also check the hardware manufacturer website for linux drivers.
