I am running Windows 8 and I want to know the method on running BackTrack 5 OS from my operating system. I tried to search for it through the Internet, but I couldn't find a decent answer. Please provide step-by-step instructions. Thank you.

Hi,

I would advise you to install Vmware workstation 9 or virtual box, on your Windows 8 OS and then try installing BackTrack.

Installing on Vmware is easy process and so as performing dual boot with Windows 8.

Leave all the default setting while you install as virtual machine. But when you install along side with Windows 8, firstly make ample unallocated free space on HD via windows 8 disk management.

It would be best that you create free space( the dark ribbon box ) as shown in the figure, and let BackTrack auto install the OS in that free unallocated space.
