These simple steps would surely help you to restore the Active Directory:

  1. After you start the system, press F8 to restart the system in Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM).
  2. Select the Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only) once you have selected it.
  3. Select the operating system that need to restore after start.
  4. Log-on as an administrator.
  5. In the command prompt, type ntbackup, and press ENTER.
  6. The Welcome page appears, click on Advanced Mode, and select the Restore and Manage Media
  7. Select the appropriate backup file from which we have to restore from and check that System disk,and System State, also make sure check boxes are marked right.
  8. Click Start Restore.
  9. When the restore is complete, restart the system.
