Depending upon which version of Windows 7 you installed that is what may be causing the problem.
If you installed a 32 bit version the recommended amount of RAM recommended from Windows is at least 1GB RAM . If you installed the 64-bit version you would need at least 2GB of RAM.
Also remember that you need a processor of at least 1 GHz. Windows also recommends that you have at least 16 GB of hard disk space for the 32-bit and at least 20GB for the 64-bit.
Lastly to ensure that you make best use of what Windows 7 has to offer you should have a DirectX 9 graphics card with a WDDM 1.0 or higher.
