This is an array of errors we come across quite often where error message is generated as report engine crashes as it receives a task from the report server. How can we identify related problems from this section of error reports and solve them?

REP-56048 Generated By Running Reports On UNIX

As stated earlier it is cause due to report engine crash. The error reports and related solutions can be documented as follows:

a) REP-56048 Engine {0} crashed: This report is generated when report server detects specific engine crash. In this process report server is expected to start another engine. We can further enable tracing report execution to get files to report the problem to oracle.

b) Often REP-56048 is thrown even when a report is running on UNIX, with character sets defined in NLS_LANG. The entries in Tk2Motif.rgb can be modified for mapping Oracle character set names and character set registry and encoding in the files CHARACTER_REGISTRY and CHARACTER_ENCODING that should solve this problem.
