Hi,

I have attempted to transfer a folder to my external hard drive. I tried many times to remove the folder in my documents but the following error displayed. How can I delete the folder, I don’t know whether the folder or file is being used by another person.

Error Deleting File or Folder:

Cannot delete Folder. It is being used by another person or program.

Close any files that might be using the program and try again.

 I really need help.

Thanks.

Hi Carol,

This error is displaying often on Microsoft Windows. That means that, this folder or some of the files in this folder are being used by some other processes or some other applications in the same time you tried to transfer it.

You can try to type "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" and click on the tab processes and abort the process for which you think is a problem.

Hello Carol,

I have one tiny tool always ready on my personal computer. It’s easy to use, you won’t even bother trying to pick out which process is actually using that folder or file that won’t allow you to delete it or make changes to it.

Link: Unlocker is the one I am recommending you right now. You can download it from here.

I trust this tool and it’s the solution for your hassle.
