I would like to ask what could be the possible reason why my hard disk keeps on showing that it cannot continue with the format of this drive? I bought this hard disk just few weeks ago and this is the first time that I am going to reformat this drive. Can you give me instructions on how to resolve this issue? Can you tell me what are the possible causes of this problem? Can you provide me alternative ways on how to eliminate this error in my computer?

Thank you!

Hello,

Re-formatting your HDD is essential to make sure that Windows doesn’t face any difficulty accessing any disk or have any error.

In order to re-format your HDD, first of all, backup your personal data. You can also move all the files of a drive to another drive and then, use it for formatting. Remove all the data of a drive and

1. From Start menu, type “Computer” >> hit Enter.

2. Right click on the drive >> select “Format”.

3. Select “File system” to “NTFS”.

4. Select “Allocation unit size” to “4096 bytes”

5. Click “Start”.

Thus, you can easily format any drive on your HDD.

But you have to make sure that you’re not formatting any drive that is related to any installation. For example, all software that are to be installed, by default, installs into C drive. If you’ve installed those software into another drive, then don’t format the drive. Also, you shouldn’t and can’t format C drive as it’s the system installation drive.
