Reference Manager tool compatible with Word 2007 and 2010

I need a reference manager word tool that is compatible with Windows Word 2007 and 2010. Please suggest me the best reference manager that will Quickly search & select citation style and will help to create an own citation style and will format citations & bibliography based on the chosen style. One of my friends is using a Mendeley reference manager, which is available for free. Please suggest me the best free version of reference manager other than that of Mendeley. Thanks
