Receiving mails to an alias e-mail in iCloud

I wonder if anyone out there has a similar problem regarding iCloud. I have a main e-mail address and an alias from my mobile which I brought over to iCloud. I started using iCloud several days ago. With my main e-mail address, everything is perfect because I can send and receive e-mails but the same is not true with my alias. My alias e-mail can send mails thru logging into iCloud, but when you send mails to my alias e-mail, it doesn’t go thru as what is implied by an error message that the e-mail doesn’t exist.

I seek help from Apple support yesterday and spoke to an agent for almost an hour.  The agent told me that I need to clear out the caches and to uninstall iCloud and then restore it but to no avail. My problem was transferred to the agent’s supervisor and I am currently waiting for any advice from them.

Receiving mails to an alias e-mail in iCloud

Hello Blainer,

The problem as to why the messages do not go through when you send the messages to your alias email in icloud may be due to improper configuration of the settings. I will suggest that you use the alternative option instead of using the icloud or mobileme option, and then ensure that you use the alias as the email address. For the incoming mail server, try using mail.me.com and then use your primary account name for the username and password. For the outgoing server try using smtp.mail.com.

You can also try setting up the account through the mobile phones accounts applications and then set the username to be your icloud email address. When your enter the password, the phone will fill the rest of the details for you, and then adjust the settings manually. Use the incoming and outgoing server similar to the ones I have mentioned above.
