Puzzle Pirates can’t be opened

Hello,

I recently bought MacBook Air, running Mac OS X 10.8.3 and trying to run Puzzle Pirates.

I receive the following weird message when I try to download the disk image and install the application.

Have any suggestion about resolving the issue?

I need your help to fix this ASAP.

“Puzzle Pirates” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the trash.

Puzzle Pirates can’t be opened

Puzzle pirates is a java-based game, and to run it on Mac OS X you have to download it. The error you got on your Mac is probably because java is in broken state when you tried to update your Mac system to Tiger or Leopard. When you download puzzle pirate you will actually be installing java client, and this client manages all information allowing you to play this game. When you are confident that you have downloaded latest version, then follow these steps.

In finder > right-click app icon > Select and click Open > Enter administrator name and password.

 Another option to allow open access to these games is to change Security settings.

Security > System Preferences > Allow Applications Downloaded from > Check “Anywhere”.

Puzzle Pirates can’t be opened

If you want to install and play “Puzzle Pirates” on Mac, check the system requirements and verify your computer meets those requirements. Puzzle Pirates supports Windows 98, Windows Millennium, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. For Mac, it supports OS X 10.4 Tiger, 10.5 Leopard, and higher. For the hardware, it requires 500 MHz or faster Intel Pentium 2 processor, 256 MB RAM, and 100 MB free space.

The game requires Java 1.5. If you don’t have it yet, download the latest Java. Download Java SE Runtime Environment 9 or visit Java SE Downloads to see the list of available Java Runtime Environments. Java Runtime Environment 9 is available only for 64-bit Microsoft Windows. If you need the 32-bit version, download Java SE Runtime Environment 8.

This version is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Windows. Unfortunately, Java SE 9 has reached end of support and is no longer available for download. In this case, just shift to the latest Java SE version which, at the moment, is Java SE 14.0.1. In the recent releases, JREs are no longer offered as download. You need to download the JDK to develop or just run Java apps.

The game will not run on OS X 10.3 Panther or older. If you wish to try it, you can download Puzzle Pirates on Steam.
