Hey Guys,

We are also using Windows XP machine in our office just like my home PC. Difference is, at home we use 2003 while at our office we use 2007.

I am having an issue with Microsoft Outlook 2007. Whenever I open the Singapore PST, my Outlook crashes. I tried restarting my computer, but the same thing happens.

Please help.

Thanks.

The first thing that I would try on your problem is that I would run a repair on Outlook just in case some files have been altered or deleted. Open Outlook, click on HELP > REPAIR.

After checking repair and you still get the error, how about trying to uninstall/reinstall the program. A clean newly installed outlook should not have those type of errors. Also try to check your PST folders, you can use SCANPST.EXE. found in C:PROGRAM FILESCOMMON FILESSYSTEMMSMAPI1033.

Then try to check on the PST folder usually found on C:DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGSUSERNAMELOCAL SETTINGSAPPLICATION DATAMICROSOFTOUTLOOK. Take note to change your USERNAME to your actual name. There are also other applications available out there but they aren’t free, but here is the link anyway.

Hi,

It is normal behavior of the software. Since you are try to input a PST from higher version to lower version. Ms Outlook 2003 has backward compatibility with outlook 2000 and Ms Outlook 2007 has backward compatibility with Ms Outlook 2003. Now I think I have made you clear that what actually you are trying to do.

Secondly I will never recommend anyone to use PST files like that. All you need to do is that you use import and export wizard. Once you will get this file imported, next time you will check on the option that does not import duplicates. And in this way only updated messages will be imported to outlook that will take very less time.

Even then if you want to use same method of using PST then try to Export PST from 2007 in compatibility mode in 2003.
