I am using Microsoft Outlook email, and it has been behaving weirdly lately. The application stops responding at times or just crashes, even when not actively in use. How can I carry out the process of troubleshooting Outlook email issues?

I see you are facing common problems that will hopefully be resolved by the following techniques involved in troubleshooting Outlook email.

First and foremost, you need to identify the plausible concerns that might be causing the problems. Exit the program, press the Windows logo + R keys. Now, type in “outlook/safe,” click OK to continue. If the issue gets resolved, go to Options -> File, then click on Add-ins, and further select COM Add-ins.

Clear every checkbox, restart Outlook and start adding add-ins one by one till the issue occurs. The next step is to try for an online repair. If this does not work, run Outlook diagnostics facility. Otherwise, create a new Outlook profile after removing the current profile. (Perform this action only if you are sure that the associated data files are backed up. You do not want to lose them!).
