Hi Carlsnel,

Here’s your inquiry;

Greetings!! guys I have a problem regarding my email account, whenever I will use Thunderbird, the mail server won't recognize my account, but if I will use it the web based access, it will log in successfully. What might be the problem here? Please help! Thanks!

This usually happen if Thunderbird can’t determine your credentials, like your username and password set-up on your account.

It’s a good thing that you can log-in to webmail; this means that you are using correct email address and password.

Now going back, Thunderbird can’t recognize you account. Here are some few tips to fix it.

  1. Go to Tools, Account Settings.
  2. Identify how many Account created by looking at the left panel of the screen. Delete if there is another account that is not in used.
  3. Highlight your Chosen Account, Click on Server Settings.
  4. Make sure that the Server Name is correct and the port number. Contact your ISP if not sure what to put.
  5. Re-create the account if possible.
  6. Close the Account Settings window, Click on Get Mail. If Password is incorrect, re-type your password.
  7. Outgoing server settings must have a valid SMTP server.

These are the tips to make Thunderbird identify your account.

Hope this helps
