Hi Darlene,

Packard bell wireless LAN indicator is a wireless utility built in your laptop or desktop computer. Or it maybe accidentally installed on your computer when you are browsing. This Wireless utility allows you to manage your wireless networks and create network connection profiles, have you connected to an available wireless network, give you information about the network status, statistics, and signal of the network you are connected. The X mark on the wireless utility may mean you are not connected to a wireless network, your wireless switch is off, you may need to update the firmware of the utility or wireless/Ethernet card is failing.

You can try to view errors on it by going to the control panel and look for Packard bell wireless, you can try to disable Packard bell wireless by having a USB wireless adaptor.

Hope this helps you.
