Potential COM surrogate virus problem

I noticed earlier today that my laptop kept on getting very hot when I played games. Previously, it could handle most high-end games with ease unlike many similar laptops. I have checked the task manager and found out that there are some ‘COM surrogate’ processes that are running, and consuming a high bandwidth. Whenever I restart the PC, the processes stop for a while only to appear and continue business as usual. Googling hasn’t helped me either. Anyone who knows about this? I need help

Happy to support you!

  • Try to install any new updates if available
  • Open SFC (System File Checker), scan and check back
  • Do a clean boot to your computer
  • (clean boot means starting windows 8.1 with a least number of drivers so that it supports eliminate the software conflicts present, but you should later reset the machine to start as normal)

If all these steps fail to solve the issue, try running the Microsoft Safety Scanner as a full scan and remove all the threats detected (but this might cause data loss!)
