Portable Hard drive swam with the fishes

In our last research study we were required to be on the sea. Unfortunately my portable hard drive fell into the water and got soaked literally and badly wet. How can I recover my files stored in the said drive. Will I still be able to use my drive later?

Portable Hard drive swam with the fishes

The first thing to remember is not to try fixing it on your own. Do not plug it into your computer because even if it may seem dry, some water particles may still remain and can even cause your computer or laptop to short circuit. The best thing to do is, put it into a reseal able plastic bag after it has dried on its own. Check if it is still under warranty and call the store where you bought it and ask if they can do something about the drive or if they know the nearest repair center. 

 

Take it to the repair center and hope for the best.
