I wanted to update Facebook on my Android but when I started the process, it asked for new permissions that included its ability to turn on or off my wi-fi. I did not understand why any app would need that permission and should it be granted by the user? How can I turn off that functionality if I dont want facebook to turn on or off wi-fi by itself?

Facebook has such an app and the user can choose to grant it permission to connect to the site whenever he or she is around a Wi-Fi connection, depending on the network. However, you can choose to disable this functionality by:
Going to your Page and clicking “Edit Page”, which is located at the top of your admin panel
Selecting “Edit Settings” from the drop-down menu
Clicking on the “More…” tab and then selecting “Facebook Wi-Fi” from the drop-down menu
Then choose the network you would want to stop using with your Page and click “Delete”. Hope this information helps.
