I looked at the pricing of Adobe Photoshop versions in the Adobe site. I only have this small project on image editing. What I need is an open-source free program like the desktop photo shop software. Could someone provide me with a good photo editor software with the likes of photo shop? Where could I download it  for free?

Hey,

Here are some free alternatives to Adobe Photoshop –

My favorite amongst these is Gimp. Gimp is very close to Photoshop in term of tools and quality. Moreover, Gimp has a large user community. You can also find a tutorial on the official site.

Best of luck.

  4. Inkscape

Inkscape is an open-source vector graphics editor identical to Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Freehand, or Xara X. What sets Inkscape differ from them, is its effect to use Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), an open XML-based W3C standard, as the native format.

  5. Xara Xtreme

Xara Xtreme is supporting Linux. This is a powerful, common purpose graphics software for Unix platforms.

  6. ChocoFlop

ChocoFlop is an image editor software supporting Mac OS X, based on the CoreImage technology. It is currently in beta stage and available freely.

Hope this info will help you. Regards!
