Hi experts,

I was trying to open a FLAC file in Ubuntu 11.10, sonic visualizer fails to recognize the file using librdf then I received the following error message. Can you provide me the best solution to resolve this issue? I would be really grateful to you.

Unable to load layer data

Failed to open file

Audio required

Unable to load layer data from

“/media/vault/docs/phd/data/rabbits/cough/audio/r32_2012-03-23_16:06_after-

Air-exposure-citric-acid_0+8M.flac” without and audio file.

Please load at least one audio file before importing annotations.

Open FLAC file in Ubuntu 11.10 sonic visualizer fails to recognize file

Hi there Robert P Nunez,

Looks like you are skipping a step or two when trying to open the file, so it cannot be opened.

Sonic Visualiser requires an audio file to be loaded before you can open the FLAC file. That is why before trying to open it you should load any kind of audio file. You can do that easily via the first menu item – File and choosing the load audio option.

Once you have the audio file loaded you will be able to open the FLAC file too.

Just in case, you should also check the permissions on the folder /media/vault/docs/phd/data/rabbits/cough/audio/ and files placed inside.

Best regards,
Drake Vivian
