Office student 2010 file association not working

My Microsoft office student 2010 file association does not work with Windows 7 64-bit.  All my files in word and excel are no longer associated with it.  Do I have to manually set .docx to show up in default programs?

Office student 2010 file association not working

Hi Jordon,

At first I am assuming that your file association is changed for some reason it might be a bug in office 2010. So my first suggestion would be to do a repair install of office on your system which will repair the word files which are damaged. If this doesn’t help try the following:
1. Open File Manager.

2. Right click the file and select Properties.
3. Then click on the general tab and select open with change.
4. Now Change ''Microsoft Office 2010 Component'' to “Microsoft Office Client Virtualization Handler”.
