Nvidia Geforce GT840M Drivers Will Not Work on Ubuntu

I have bought a new HP Envy 17t computer with 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT840 Graphics card. I have installed the NVIDIA drivers but they do not function. Every time I try, I am getting an error. I’m running Ubuntu 14. How can I go about this?

Nvidia Geforce GT840M Drivers Will Not Work on Ubuntu

Hi Derrick!

Unfortunately there are selected products and devices that were reported having issues with Ubuntu. However there are some quick fix for this that you might find very useful.

1. Check the Nvidia graphics card if the software is fully installed.

2. Uninstall the Nvidia Driver and software.

3. Download and install Nvidia Driver for your graphics card that will be compatible with Ubuntu and its version.

4. Update you graphics card driver and software. This will be a sure fix for your problem.
