It's possible that your file associations have been changed. Your first course of action is to repair MS Office. Go to Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs, find MS Office then click Change/Remove. Once in the Microsoft Office 2000: Update Features, you can select the features that you want to repair.

If you want to remove a feature, just set it to Not Available. Click on Update Now to proceed. You need to have your Office CD if errors are found. Also, some viruses, Trojans can also do this to your Office. You can try and run a free virus scan online through these sites:

https://usa.kaspersky.com/

https://security.symantec.com/maintenance.html

Hope that helps!

Hi,

The thing is that you always must update your software, a software even though its from a huge company Microsoft it surely contains bugs and stuffs, so update your MS word.

Open your ms word 2000 and close all other applications (if any) now click on help on the above and select check for updates. I had attached a screenshot of doing it.

Clear the temp directory first

Now download and then install the new updates, now give your system a quick restart and try again.

If it didn't worked means you have to manually copy paste the hypertext into your browser I guess. Why using MS word 2000? I suggest at least using MS word 2003.
