Not able to find AVI codec in Quick Time

Hi everybody,

I am having few AVI videos and I wanted to play them on Apple TV. For that I wanted to convert AVI format to MOV format. When I am trying to open them in QuickTime player it is giving the error "Required codec not available". The same file is getting played using VLC but not Quick Time. Is there any way to handle this issue? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hello,

Which one did you try .AVI or .MOV ?? May the conversion of your file is gone wrong and quick time won't take it. If you are playing .AVI format codec can be the issue. An .avi file generally has different audio and video codec. If the codec are used by QuickTime player, it will play properly. If not, it will not as there might be a chance that these codec are not used by QuickTime player.
