Norton AV cannot be installed – problem authenticating Microsoft Windows installer

Hi Gurus,

I was installing Norton AV 2007 on my Win XP PC when I got this error.  I tried to click the link it provided then I clicked on the fix tool but nothing seemed to have happened.  I tried reinstalling but I got the same error.

Next thing link said that I had to reinstall my Windows OS.  I believed this was very tedious for me to do so I tried this forum and wanted to ask for any other workaround to solve this kind of problem.

Please help.

Thank you.

Setup Requirements Check

Setup cannot be installed because there was a problem authenticating your Microsoft Windows Installer.

Hello Carcan,

The problem here is that the Norton version that you are trying to install is not compatible with the windows xp version that you are using and thus the prompt for you to change the operating system. Maybe the Norton is meant to be used on windows vista or windows 7 operating systems.

Therefore I will advice that you download a Norton Antivirus program that is compatible to the windows XP operating system that you are using, so that to save yourself the trouble of having to reinstall a new operating system which will require that you install the applications and the drivers again.
