Hello guys, my post here is about an error message I encountered using windows live messenger, when I run windows live messenger an error message appeared on my screen telling me that windows live messenger  is not running,  I pasted below the screen shot of the error.

Team Foundation Error

Windows Live Messenger is not running.

When I analyze the above error message, I'm having a hard time analyzing the problem, since the error message is not clear to what extent it causes the error, so look on the internet for some interaction on errors  but nothing is posted similar to  my scenario, please share me some ideas on this issue, thanks a lot.

Dear Lukegams

This error message appears when windows live messenger process did not exist and you try to open a team explorer. You can fix this error by doing some steps.

After installation of the power tool for Team Foundation Service, new node will be found in a team explorer named ‘Team Members’. Right click on it and select ‘Personal Settings’ shows below display window

In the ‘Collaboration’ box click on ‘Change’ button. This will give a option to change Provider to into “None”. Doing this, power tools would not search windows live messenger on next startup.

Hope your problem will be settled.

Dear Lukegams,

Perform the following steps in order to resolve your issue.

Note: make sure you’ve exited Windows Live Messenger before moving forth.

1. Go to Start->Run and type services.msc

2. From the list of services, locate SSDP Discovery service and double-click on it

3. Click the Stop button on the SSDP Discovery Properties window

4. From the Startup type drop-down, select Disabled

5. Click OK

Follow the same steps as above for UPnP Device Host service.
Once both these services have been disabled, you will notice that your Windows Live Messenger will stop getting stuck.

However, disabling these services would also reduce the file transfer speed on your MSN. On the other hand, the speed issue would be resolved when you enable the services again after a few months.

If your issue persists even after disabling the services, restart your system and then try logging on to Windows Live Messenger.
In case there’s any confusion, feel free to contact me and I’ll help in any way I can.

Good day to you Lukegams!

As I analyzed your problem with regards to Windows Live Mesh, I do remember the first time I encountered this problem before. Truly, it is not about the connection or the firewall but the operation system itself that could not support the said applications. There are something to consider to solve this issue.

I'd rather suggest to change your operating system into new one which is MAC OS or it could be Windows 7 that will duly support the said application. The drivers are very important because there are programs that cannot read or interface with some other applications.

I do hope that it could help.
