My web cam is malfunctioning

There is a problem on the web cam of my Acer aspire 4720 laptop. Normally, if the cam is activated it will display a yellow light as a signal and will turn off if not in use. But lately every time I try using my web cam through yahoo messenger or Skype, there's no display and the light is always activated even after I close the application. I need to restart my computer in order to return it to normal.

What may be the problem and how can i resolve this?

My web cam is malfunctioning

It is a very stupid error. I also had to face with my USB.

you can check this issue, to uninstall the webcam software, restart your PC and then reinstall the software again.

also check whether your USB port is working ok. try to connect your webcam with other USB ports. if it does not work on any of your port then you may have your camera defective. if it is in warranty, just claim it.

you can also test your webcam by trying on another PC.

And last, you can also check device manager if it gives any idea like corrupt drivers or something like that.
