MS Visual C++ Error in accessing PDF using IE 8

Hello there,

Environment: Windows 7 Ultimate, Acrobat 10, IE 8.

While accessing PDF files from a website using IE 8, I was faced with runtime errors from Microsoft Visual C++, which says that the application has terminated in an unusual way. The error message is “Adobe Runtime Error”.

If the PDF file is locally accessed then there should be no problem, right? Please help me fix my confusing problem.

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

Have you tried to change the compatibility of the software i.e. right click on the shortcut on the desktop and go to properties. Click the compatibility tab and under compatibility mode, check the box “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” Under that drop down menu select windows 7. If it doesn’t work try to select Windows XP service pack 3.

Sorry I've used Acrobat 9, but it's more or less the same thing.

If the error persists, Open acrobat. Go to Edit, and then click Preferences. Now under categories, select General and press the reset all warnings button. Finally check the box Enable Protected Mode at start-up” This should at least get rid of the run time error. If the error still comes, go back to the preferences and go to general. Then deselect the Enable Protected Mode at start-up checkbox.

I hope this helps to solve your issue.
