A registry related error occurred while trying the Microsoft Office 2003 on my laptop computer. The error code is “Error 1404” and it stated there that the set up cannot delete the registry key Software Classes.tif.
I try many software including Nero 7, Adobe Reader 8.0, Winamp 5531, and other software, but it still showing the error.

Error 1404. Setup cannot delete the registry key softwareclasses.tif. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact your information Technology determent for assistance.
MS Office Pro 2003 Error 1404
This error is occurring because you do not have permission to write on that specific registry key. To solve this problem, you have to follow the instruction step by step:
1. Go to the start menu, click on the run button and then type the word “regedit”.
2. Find out the defected key which creating problem.(Just follow the error message)
3. Go to “edit” and then click on the “permission”.
4. All you have to do is add your current user name in the permission box and check “allow all ” to get full permission.
Then your problem will be solved…….enjoy!!!

just open add/remove program in control panel, find microsoft office 2003, click remove, it show content add/remove, modify, repair, its your option to make it possible event
