Hi,

Guys I have this error when I want to open a PowerPoint with Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer. Is this compatibility issue on my PC? I have this PowerPoint from college and on the teacher PC this viewer worked just fine. Can anyone tell me how can I open this PowerPoint document? Can it be opened without installing Microsoft Office?

Thank you!

Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer

If this is what you are receiving every time you open a Microsoft Office PowerPoint file, I guess you are using Microsoft Office 2007 and the Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer can’t start because you don’t have the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack module for Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, and Microsoft Office PowerPoint file formats.

Though Microsoft Office only asks for the compatibility pack to be installed, I think it would be best if you’ll just upgrade your Microsoft Office 2007 to Service Pack 3. You can download the Service Pack upgrade from 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 3. This Service Pack package is around 350 MB so make sure you have enough space left in your hard drive.

For the compatibility pack, you can get it from Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack. This is only a small file around 37 MB. To begin, install the Service Pack 3 update first and then restart the computer. Next, install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack.
