Looking for good Mpeg2 player freeware

I'm looking for a good mpeg2 player freeware. 

I'm using Windows Media Player 11 but it can't play mpeg2 files. 

I don't want to convert the files. 

Or do I just need a codec for it to run?

Looking for good Mpeg2 player freeware

Hi Willie, there are lots of players to run MPEG files. Among them VideoLAN (VLC) is quite awesome and good.

You don't have to install any CODEC for this player.

It can run MPEG-2, DivX, H.264, MKV, WebM, WMV, MP3 and many more formats.

This player runs on all platforms.

Hi Willie,

Should you prefer the feel of Windows Media Player's user interface, and want to play any file format of media on it, the best way to go is to install complete codec packs for your system.

You could use any one or two of these codecs listed: (you'll be directed to the download page for each, try opening each on a new tab)

1. Basic and versatile Windows Essentials Media Codec Pack

2. Media Player Codec Pack basic and versatile

3. The common K Lite Mega Codec Pack.

4. Windows 7 Codec Pack for your OS sensitive needs.
