Hello. I own a Compaq 15-a003sa laptop, and I am experiencing some issues with the screen. Most of the time it works fine, but then suddenly lines appear all over it when I move the mouse. It doesn’t happen every day, but maybe 3 times a week. It still worries me, however. What could be the problem? What could I do to fix it?

Hello,

There may be n number of reasons behind this strange behavior of your laptop screen. It could be the problem with your graphic card, loose cable, debris or dust over laptop crucial circuits, laptop display or just may be some software issue. Firs you need to diagnose about the root of your problem, then you can apply the respective workaround for the same.

Try to clean your laptop very well, reset the LCD cable. Then restart. See if things are better now. These are the very common issues and easiest way out to help you.

 If you still face lines all over the screen, now it’s time to check out for display panel. Try connecting laptop with an external display panel, see if the display is showing normal screen, then the problem must be with your display panel or it is causing because of graphic card. Change them respectively.

If this happens on your laptop randomly every week, it could be a problem with your LCD screen or maybe with your graphics card. First, since you are using a laptop and removing the video card is not possible, try updating the video driver on your computer. If you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, visit NVIDIA Driver Downloads.

If you have an ATI Radeon video card, visit AMD Graphics Drivers and Software. If you are using an S3 graphics accelerator, visit S3 Graphics Download Drivers. If you have an Intel video card which is usually built-in to your motherboard, visit Intel Driver Update Utility Graphics to detect and help you update your Intel video driver.

Make sure to restart the computer after updating the video card driver. See if this fixes the issue with your laptop screen. If this doesn’t fix the problem, you probably need to consult with a laptop technician to properly verify if the problem is with the video card or with the LCD screen itself.
