Lexmark printer (510 series) software installation error with Windows 7

Hello everyone,

Please can anyone help me out of the following problem?

I have a printer Lexmark 510, which I was effectively using with my Windows XP before installing the Windows 7. Now with the Windows 7, I am facing software installation error. I tried a lot with a given installation disk. After inserting the disk & accepting the terms & conditions the installation wizard appears and it shows successfully installed the software. But when I start my printer for using it shows 'Software is not installed properly'.

Even I tried downloading the software from the Internet which was for Windows XP & 7 but it didn't work. So I just want to know whether this series is supported by Windows 7 or not? If yes, please explain me the other ways of installing this software which is compatible with Windows 7.

Julia,

I checked on the system requirements for the Lexmark 510 and found that Windows Vista is the latest Operating System supported by the driver.

However you might still be able to install the program properly by running the compatibility wizard to install the driver using Windows XP compatibility. This should be able to install the drivers correctly for your printer.

You might also try installing the drivers for Vista x86 (32Bit) which is a closer compatibility with Windows 7 Download the driver.

If you’re having a problem installing the printer software, make sure you download the correct version for your printer. If the driver or software is already installed but appears to be not installed when you want to use it, uninstall and reinstall it. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it.

Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select your Lexmark printer software among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then download Lexmark MX510 Series Driver and Software.

Before downloading, make sure your printer is Lexmark MX510 or within the series. It supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 including Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit only), Windows Server 2012 (64-bit only), Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit only), and Windows Server 2016 (64-bit only).
